Paramount Network is only six months old, but it has a lot to celebrate. Yellowstone, it’s big budget rancher drama set in Middle America is connecting with audiences like no other show on cable TV, besides for The Walking Dead!
Yes, you read that right. Yellowstone is almost as popular as The Walking Dead. How do you determine that from only three episodes? Well, it’s simple. Paramount Network aired the first two episodes before the July 4 weekend. They took the show off the air that week, and then when it returned this week, ratings actually increased!! In this day and age, that’s practically unheard of.
The series premiere drew 5 million views and the other episodes average out to about 4.6 million viewers. In this fragmented TV market it’s already got a pretty sizable audience.
For fans of Middle America or western soap operas, Yellowstone hits all the right spots. It’s got that type of House of Cards political swagger and heavy hitter Kevin Coster probably drew some eyeballs towards the new show.
