The DOJ has sued to block AT&T’s acquisition of Time Warner, CNN’s parent company.

Rumors were swirling in telecom circles that the Trump WH has directly threatened the deal due to CNN’s involvement (as if they didn’t know?). A deal with which all pro-business minded and media consolidation experts mostly agree with. Especially if you so happen to be on the conservative side of the business world. Which in these days most ordinary citizens have already lumped all telecom executives together as “evil Republicans seeking to destroy the internet.”

Sure while AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson is a Republican, he says that the lawsuit defies all logic and that “Any agreement that results in us losing control [of CNN], either directly or indirectly is a non-starter.”

AT&T is also looking to use it’s power to expose potential conversations the Trump WH had that reveals this lawsuit is and only is about politics. Which in itself is an abuse of power on two fronts. The Government especially a Republican-led government should not be interfering in the free market and on top of that they shouldn’t be allowing deals in which they agree politically or not.
