When Covfefe was first conceptualized by Trump’s twitter handle. It was in the middle of the night after late night TV shows had aired and during a week when most late night shows are on hiatus.

Quickly twitter users, wondered with silly translations what it meant. Was it a new drug? Was it a code-word? Obviously, the President meant to type something about media coverage, but what transpired between Trump thinking about media coverage to actually typing it out, remains a mystery. The White House’s sneaky explanation-that only a small group of close aides really knows what Trump meant- doesn’t help either.

So without everyone’s favorite Trump hating host Stephen Colbert to relentlessly attack his made up word, Colbert missed out. Noah and Bee took the stage. No words from Kimmel or Fallon either and SNL is finished for the season. They all missed the mark.

So others had to fill the void and they did relatively well, but I do have one question for the seemingly quiet late night hosts. Did they not see it? In their absence did they miss the most important gaffe in Trump’s presidency? Or was there simply no pressure to comment on it since a day later, Trump pulled out of the Paris Accord, more hosts mocked him for that and threw the Covfefe out the window. All except for Trevor Noah. The late night tide might be turning.
