The hacker claims to have obtained 1.5 terabytes of data from the premium cable TV channel, including a script for an upcoming episode of Game of Thrones.

HBO provided the following statement: “HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information. We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”

New episodes of Ballers and Room 104 have been leaked online. It’s unclear what the motivations were for the hack, but it seems that the hacker just wants to cause trouble for HBO and has no link to the backlash against the Confederate TV series.
