From Firefly to Almost Human. The Fox network hasn’t really embraced Science Fiction, and it hasn’t really had much success outside of it either. Being fourth place ratings wise the network has had to do some soul searching in 2017.

Enter Seth MacFarlane’s new comedy The Orville, which is coming out of the upfronts with major buzz, one of the most ambitious projects from the network to date. Critics are already calling it a Galaxy Quest rip-off that should have just cast Tim Allen, but that’s not all.

Fox has two more sci-fi shows in the pipeline, Marvel’s Gifted, and the paranormal comedy Ghosted. Fox usually has at least one high profile science fiction show on it’s schedule but next season including the 11th season of the X-Files, they have four! Fox is also developing the science fiction show The Building, but I have not yet heard anything new about it.
