One of the most unsuccessful franchises in history is getting it’s own TV series, but nobody really asked for it did they?

Starz and Lionsgate made a pact when they merged about what to do with the Divergent series, and it seems like they don’t want to let this baby go. Fans will recall that the fourth film in the divergent series, known as Ascendant was scrapped following horrendous box office earnings from the third movie Allegiant and criticism for splitting the second movie of the trilogy into two. Don’t get me wrong there were plenty of problems with the first movie too; read the IMDB ratings!

Apparently the new TV series called Ascendant, from Starz will star all the same actors (like we care!) from the first movies and then will introduce a new cast. Huh? Do they think the only problem with the movie was the bad actors? Actually, I thought the actors in the first movie tried their best with what they got. The same team behind the Divergent movies will be behind the series, and until that is rectified, the TV series will be just as bad as the movies.

On the other hand, hopefully the freedom TV gives story-tellers, will allow for a fresh perspective and more in depth character development.
