If you are a TV show with a conspiracy theory as it’s central plot, and that conspiracy theory involves a complex plot to destroy the entire fabric of the United States government no less. Then you don’t want your fans figuring out who got shot before the next episode airs.

“Who Got Shot?” That was the hype for the return of Designated Survivor, in a Dallas type feel that had die hard fans scouring the internet for clues as to what might happen.

From looking at a show’s IMDB page you can determine how long each character will be on the season for and that might lead you to some clues. Other areas of IMDB to check, are the episode descriptions. Which for about a month was apparently edited to include some type of other description than what actually happened.

The leading theory on social media was that First Lady Alex Kirkman, was the one who got the bullet based on theories about where the gun was aiming, and her proximity to the President and another show where Kiefer Sutherland’s wife got shot, so it all made sense. The IMDB post only added to that speculation.

The bad news was that the theory was wrong, and President Kirman ended up getting shot, but living through it. The good news however, is that this plays right into the team behind Designated Survivor and they want their fans to be guessing about things every episode! The ratings maintained a steady 5.9 Million viewers and the election it seems did not affect the show at all. We shall see if it affects season 2.
