The bosses at ABC have decided to grant Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. one last season to top off Marvel’s highly successful Phase 4.
Season six will debut in summer 2019. Pairing it with the release of Avengers 4 due out May 2019. I’ve watched this show since the pilot, came out five years ago, and watched in wonder as it kept getting renewed time and time again. But as early fans revolted in disgust true fans stuck with it. Becoming one of the best sci-fi shows on TV itself. As it dealt with everything from alien genetic mutation, alien rights, and AI and this season they dealt with tricky aliens, time travel, and the effects of Infinity War.
The comments that ABC made at the upfront today sparks an interesting question. Does rewarding mean that Coulson will show up in Avengers 4? Or will Captain Marvel, first pop up at S.H.I.E.L.D Headquarters looking for Nick Fury? The creators thought Season 5 would be it’s last season, but now they have time to thank the fans, and might have room to reintroduce certain fan favorites back into the little S.H.I.E.L.D. universe all it’s own. Who will return for the series finale? Fans will have to wait a year to find out.
